An organic Grand Theft Auto & South Beach virtual connection
How a dinner conversation with my teenage son at the Clevelander blew my virtual reality mind
Florida Road Trip
Week 16 of the NFL is underway and the Dallas Cowboys are playing in Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Christmas Eve. During a recent trip with my son Bryce to Florida I was informed that Grand Theft Auto 6 was launching soon. South Beach is about to go digital in 2025.
What’s neat is when the first ever GTA came out in 1997 I played that game on the first ever 1994 Play Station. I come from the payphone era. In April of 1993, the World Wide Web was born thanks to Tim Berners-Lee. That same month I enlisted in the Navy at age 19.
What's the digital connection? During a dinner at the Clevelander Hotel this month, when I asked Bryce what he thought about his South Beach experience thus far, he said, ‘This place is not real.”
After learning South Beach would be in GTA6 at the table, his response to my question blew my mind. How cool is it going to be when he plays the game in the future? To say I have been there physically not just virtually!
