Did you know CeeDee Lamb is the 12th Dallas Cowboy to wear the number 88? Is Lamb the BEST WR in the NFL currently? Today we examine how once extended with America’s Team, he could become the highest-enumerated receiver in Cowboys history.

Numbers Games

This article will not argue how much, or when CeeDee Lamb will get paid by the Dallas Cowboys. Instead, I would like to point out how when he is extended it’s only a matter of time before he climbs the top of this list. Not only will he become the highest-paid WR in the NFL, but his trajectory is set to create history as the greatest WR in Dallas Cowboys history.

During my 132-Day Historical Countdown, I shared the all-time receptions leader is still Jason Witten with 1,215 catches through 16 seasons. Lamb is ranked 7th on that list with 395 receptions inside just 4 seasons. That is a total of 820 receptions between himself and Witten.

On the flip side, what good are reception yards without a touchdown too? Dez Bryant is the all-time TD receptions leader for the Dallas Cowboys with 73. Edging out Hall of Famers Bob Hayes (71) and Michael Irvin (65). Bryant suited up for the Cowboys for only 8 seasons before retiring with Baltimore in 2020.

Lamb currently has 32 touchdowns in the air and 3 on the ground. That’s an 8 touchdown a season…
