Awareness Is The Key

Volunteering to become institutionalized in the Navy for 23 years will do a number on your mental health. It did mine. That’s why I love May because we can chat about Mental Health. It’s important to me and I know it is for every other veteran who can relate. Asking for help saved my life.

Many veterans from all branches love and support the Dallas Cowboys. It's America’s Team. It makes sense. For the last 30 years, we have all been in this abusive relationship with our team. After last season’s exit in the first round of the playoffs, I knew I had to create some boundaries with this team. It's very toxic for our mental health.

Dak Prescott has helped create and shape the discussion about Mental Health among Cowboys fans due to unfortunate family reasons. His Ask 4 Help campaign with his Faith Fight Finish non-profit helps create awareness on cancer and mental health discussions.

It was established as a tribute to Dak’s Mom, Peggy, who lost her battle with colon cancer in 2013; and its work honors Dak’s brother, Jace, who was lost to suicide in…
