How the NFL constructed primetime games for “Your Eyes Only”
The NFL brand is growing exponentially around the globe thanks to streaming technology
For Your Eyes Only
I loved watching James Bond movies growing up as a kid. Although the character changed in different movies the role remained the same. Much like 007 was spying on the bad guys in the movies the NFL is also spying on its streaming numbers by the game.
During Thanksgiving, it was apparent not many football fans were watching Roger Moore in the 1981 “For Your Eyes Only.” Instead, they had their eyes tapped into the America’s Team stream from AT&T Stadium.
The streaming numbers are in and it was the 3rd most-watched NFL regular season game in history. Historically the Cowboys and Redskins played on this holiday to draw in viewership. Since the 1980’s it appears that this blueprint is still very effective.
OO7 had a license to Kill much like the NFL, Amazon, and YoTube have a license to Stream now. What many football fans fail to understand is the drawing power of the Dallas Cowboys when it comes to viewership. When prime-timed just right during the holidays this is the result.
