I was wrong on Tony Pollard and his RB potential in 2023

The Dallas Cowboys running back dilemma is about to get interesting this off-season.

The fact Tony Pollard has been a Dallas Cowboys for 5 seasons and may not return in 2024 is a hard pill to swallow. Especially after the departure of Ezekiel Elliot after 8 seasons to lace up his 9th with the Patriots. Would his potential departure drive the Cowboys to trade up in the NFL draft this April?

NOT FOR LONG

It’s super crazy to think Tony Pollard was drafted 3 years after Ezekiel Elliott. Eight years with Elliott flew by. Just like the last 5 have with Tony. Have we seen the last of Pollard wearing a Star on his helmet? Before the 2023 season, I was ALL in on TP getting fed in this Texas Coast Offense. I was wrong big time.

In some circles, fans will tell you the NFL stands for Not For Long. It’s crazy to think that Pollard may sign with another team this year and the Cowboys use their 24th pick in the NFL draft to go RB, yet again. Wait for it.

Barely eclipsing a thousand yards with 1,005 on the season and only scoring 6 touchdowns is insane. Elliott last season splitting the load with Pollard had 12 touchdowns himself. What is the problem in BIG D with the run game? Playcalling or contracts?

Pollard averaged 4.0 YPC in 2023 compared to 5.2 in 2022. In addition, he had 1,007 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns. Think about that. That is 21 total touchdowns last season between Elliott & Pollard. How was the Dallas Cowboys the number 1 offense in the NFL at 29.9 YPG? In the air.
