Give Ricky Williams his flowers today on becoming the sacrificial lamb for a player who ushered cannabis into the National Football League.

It Just Makes Cents

Ricky Williams and I have something in common. We both view cannabis as a medication alternative as opposed to opioids. Instead of it being a Schedule 1 substance according to the Drug Enforcement Agency currently. This plant can help both players and veterans when it comes to mental health and physical recovery.

Cannabis can be used to recover and heal NFL players mentally and physically, thanks to Williams fighting the good fight. Much like it does currently for military veterans who are registered in the medical cannabis programs like myself in WA State. Veterans in the Pacific Northwest can learn more about our State’s medicinal cannabis program here.

Back in 2004, Williams retired from the NFL. As a player, he was suspended multiple times by the league for marijuana use, including in May of 2004, which was months before he made the surprising decision to retire just days before training camp.
