Who will “Haul The Damn Ball” for the Dallas Cowboys?
Jerral needs a PLAN B ASAP during FREE agency frenzy
GROUND GAME
The bottom line up front is if the Cowboys can’t rebuild their offensive line between the draft and free agency it won’t matter who is hauling the damn ball in 2024. Two of the 16 free agents for America’s Team will test the market this March. How will the Dallas ground game look going into this fall? Nobody knows until we hit FREE AGENCY FRENZY.
I believe Jerral won’t create a BIG SPLASH for a running back and here’s why. The NFL salary cap recently ballooned to $255 million. Protecting Prescott has now become priority numero uno. With as many free agents testing the market in March it appears we are in a re-build phase.
The Cowboys have made the playoffs three consecutive years while winning the NFCE 2 of those 3. Should we see Pollard and Dowdle test the free-agent market and sign with another division team that leaves a couple of pups fresh out of the Kennel. FB Hunter Luepke and RB Deuce Vaughn.
The ideal route would be to meet in the middle of the domino table with Pollard. Locking in a surefire RB1, but for how long? Word on the street is Prescott is in line for a 3 YR $180 million extension. If that comes to frution soon, the rest of the salary cap dominoes will soon fall.
BETWEEN THE LINES
It’s safe to say that Jerral’s proclamtion of going “All In” was lip service at best for the media to peddle. Ultimately giving fans like you and I much needed hope to buy back into this team. Don’t hold your breath. He was just slapped with a DNA test in court. Jerral be creeping.
I doubt we see him chase any RB free agents down like RB Derrick Henry. Although he lives in Dallas and trains there it makes too much sense. The media swallowed that hook, line, and sinker. This is a formidable PLAN B for Jerral, but will he swallow the pill?
The Cowboys have more free agents on this roster currently (16) than (7) picks for the “Draft Whisperer” to operate with in the Motor City. We could likely see a RB come off the board for the Cowboys. Especially if Pollard and Dowdle get picked up by another team during free agency.
Will Leupke and Vaughn get more touches this season? Not likely. If the Cowboys don’t sign a RB during free agency this March we will likely draft a RB in April, I think. At this juncture we have to watch what the Cowboys do. All hell is going to break loose with the media soon if the DNA comes back, and Jerral is the Father. Oh, and when Prescott get’s paid. A tougher pill for some to swallow in our fan base.
UHAUL IT
Last season we heard Pollard say “They call it, Imma haul it.” The million-dollar question is who will haul it this season for Dallas? Only time will tell. Keeping our eyes on the Cowboys leadership during free agency and the draft will be key.
This team will look very different on both sides of the ball heading into training camp this August in Oxnard, CA. I plan to make a road trip to be there to see just how it looks myself. In the process link up with my Facebook supporters and other Cowboys fans in attendance.
Building through the draft has been the Will McClay way over the last 5 years. Going cheap in the draft for talent helps keep that new salary cap number down as well. The ingredients for a perfect off-season storm. Now I’m off to get into this UHAUL myself.
Over the next 2 months we will learn just how the Cowboys plan to move into this new season with their personnel. You know I will be here to haul it for you personally. New reader here? Be sure to follow me on Medium for more free agency and draft frenzy this spring.
