Why holidays are the toughest time of year for veterans and suicide

There’s a myth that suicide rates climb each holiday season among veterans. There is also proof however that 70% of veterans who committ suicide actually do it with a firearm. According to the latest 2019 VA suicide report on veterans.

The holiday season is among vetrans. Even amidst this pandemic we are currently at war with. During this time of year for veterans it’s especially harder in the mental health department. Here is how we can all work together to save one life.

As the weather recently shifted colder in most areas of the country we begin a winter lock down in WA today in relation to COVID-19. New rules will ban indoor gatherings, close restaurants to indoor dining and limit all retail to 25% capacity, including grocery stores. Until mid month December.

More than 40 states have reported increases in opioid-related mortality as well as ongoing concerns for those with a mental illness or substance use disorder. Can essential cannabis dispensaries be the answer?

Any other traditional holiday season many veterans are traveling around the construct to see loved ones while taking time off to re-charge their minds and batteries. Welcome to the new normal. An isolated veteran.
